Supplies for Monoprinting on a Gel Plate

These are the basic supplies used in my Botanical Monoprinting workshop. We printed on 4x6 index cards to use as note cards or matted as small artworks, but you can print on copier paper, book pages, tissue paper, deli paper, rice paper, pretty much anything that can absorb and grab the paint from the gel plate. Slick, non-porous surfaces (like Yupo or synthetic papers) will not work. And NEVER use photo paper to pick up a print - the coated surface of photo paper will chemically bond with the gel plate and will ruin it.
As for the leaves and such, I've gathered from various stores over a couple of years. Try searching for "plastic leaves", check out the party-supply section of stores for cut-outs (think jungle theme), faux florals from high-end stores to Dollar Tree. Just don't use anything too sharp, as you definitely don't want to puncture the surface of the gel plate. And if it's spring, summer, or fall.... just look out in your yard. Make something beautiful out of those dandelion leaves!
