A New Resolution

As many of you may know, I made a New Year's resolution a few years back: to set aside one hour a week to do something creative. Since my schedule was quite hectic, I knew I had to actually block this time out on the calendar. I pulled out different art supplies I hadn’t touched in years and tried new ideas I found on Pinterest. One guiding principal, however, turned out to be extremely helpful. I completely embraced the possibility that I might throw away whatever it was I created. Because it wasn’t about the outcome, it was about the time… the creative process.

I never could have imagined that when I made that resolution it would take me to where I am today. I’ve found a spark in me that drives me to experiment and create with alcohol inks, and a true calling to share what I learn with others. I’m selling artwork at several shops/galleries and teaching multiple workshops each week. It’s beautiful, and satisfying, but very time consuming. And you know what? It's getting really hard to find time to just play and create.

So, I’m recommitting to my resolution and am blocking out one hour each week to do something creative. It might not even involve alcohol inks (who am I kidding - it probably will!). I encourage you to set aside some time to do the same.
