Two New Techniques!
In our last Zoom workshop, we used translucent paper (matte film) and printed guides to paint beautiful orchids. I wanted to add another online workshop using that same paper - but teaching two new techniques for painting and outlining.
Faux Stained Glass
When you use a wax/oil-based pencil to outline before painting, it helps to keep the ink within the outlined area (the pencil line acts as a resist). Combined with textures in various areas of ink, the painting looks like stained glass. (Or, if you prefer, you can use an acrylic paint pen to outline the guidelines after the inks are dry.) You'll receive two different 8x10 guides for this project - one simple design (less lines), and one more complex design (more lines, especially in the background.)
BONUS: I'm supplying a 5x7 outline to show you a "sketchy" outline technique that gives your painting a completely different look from a single-line outline.

CAMERA

Your Instructor
Back in 2014, I made a simple New Year's resolution: to set aside one hour each week to do something creative. It completely changed my life.
I was initially drawn to alcohol inks because of the bright, happy colors, but I quickly became addicted to their surprising behavior and beautiful, organic movement.
I've been creating with alcohol inks for twelve years, and teaching for ten. I'm still in love with this magical medium and love sharing what I've learned with others. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
